pneuma と spirit の語源は共に、「息」、「吹く」。

関連語

振り返って我らが日本語、「いき(息)」と「いきる(生きる)」は恐らく同源。
生命に纏わる言葉の成り立ちの裏には一定程度の普遍法則がありそう。
