我が国ではかつて石炭を黒いダイヤと呼んでいたが、米国には(恐らくそれより前に) Black Diamond という石炭採掘会社があった。ある種の訳語だったのかも知れない。

勿論本作は石炭とは無関係。
black diamond の対訳には「夢は夜ひらく」が良かったかも。
