tongue twister だと、早口言葉、の意。
ball and play
球技に興じているわけではない。
本作はつまりは、イイ事しましょ、という歌。
そしてそれを最後までやり遂げる為に、自分に hang on していなさい、しがみついていなさい、とボウイの野郎が言い渡す。
このビデオ、半分はミックロンソンが映っている。
Sex Pistols のグレンマトロックはそのロンソンのギターリフからの影響を公言。
God Save The Queen (既にマトロックは不在)
似てはいるがそれを言うならロンソンだってエディコクランの Somethin’ Else を知らないなんて事はないだろう。
すると、stolen guitar という唐突に登場する語も stolen guitar riff の事だと見なせば合点が行きはする。
本作を含むこの時期のボウイのアップテンポ曲はプロトパンクと呼ばれる事もある。そして更に遡ればその源流はロカビリーだろう。
パンクはロックの傍流というより寧ろ直系とも言うべき継承の仕方をした響きも多い(気がする)。
