ネット上には表題の文言 If this is it に「これが本物の愛なら」などと対訳してあったが誤訳。
1. the expected event is about to happen.
“this is it—the big sale”
2. this is enough or the end.
“this is it, I’m going”
ちゃんと辞書にも出てる。2の方の、もうこれで終わり、という事。
で、文脈上、恋愛関係の終わりに言及しており、If this is it = If this ain’t love と取るのが妥当。

I just wanted to say that these will be my final show performances in London. This will be it. This is it and when I say this is it, it really means this is it.
マイケルジャクソンが本当に言いたかったのは、my final show と前段で明言している通り、この公演が最後のショウになるという事。僕が最後と言うからには本当に最後なんだと強調。ただ、この発言から取ったドキュメンタリー映画 Michael Jackson’s This Is It の表題自体は語釈1をも仄めかす両義的なものにしたのだろう。

話を本作に戻すと、寡聞にして知らなかったが邦題は「いつも夢見て」との由。これなんかも原題の意味が取れず苦し紛れに捻り出したものなのだろう。
ところで通話中の家族に小声で「留守って言って」ってやり口、令和の世にはもう無いんだろうなあ。
なーんて往時を懐かしんでるのは何も筆者だけではない様で、上掲プロモビデオのコメント欄にも80sやら nostalgia なんて言葉が頻出。
