イレギュラーな構文、と言うより作詞者独自の修辞と取るべきか。
blind は、形容詞ならば、主格補語の様に見なすしかない。
或は副詞とすれば、miss me blind = miss me (so) bad の様に取れる。
kissing to be clever
前作アルバムの表題と同一の文言。
kiss は性愛の入口を指す、或はそのもののメタファーであり、clever はそんな体験を済ませた、或は積んだ状態を表す。
そう見なせば文脈に齟齬は無く、更には2枚のアルバムにボーイジョージが吹き込んだテーマにも合致しそう。
すると a good gun や the fool が指すのは… お察しの通り。
とまあこんな風に考えるが如何。
the love that I have to give
手紙を締め括る言い回しにこんなのがある。
I wish you the best (of everything) that life has to offer.
この has to は上の have to と同じで、無くても意味に大差無し。
the love that I give 私が与える愛
the best that life offers 人生が与える最上のもの
さて本作は二択に見せかけ一方を潰そうとする誘導的な物言いに終始する。詰まる所、僕が与える愛よりいいものは無いから僕を選べと言うのだ。これは相手を口説くと言うより説き伏せようとしている。
でもこれこそがサバイブしてきた動物のやり方(かも)。
