(In Detroit, the body of a Michigan youth was reported dead at the scene of a head on collision on Grand Avenue this morning. He was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the boulevard when he struck a delivery truck and was catapulted through the windshield of his car. The driver of the truck is reported to be uninjured. The identities of both men are being withheld by local police.
County legislators today are expected to rally to the aid of striking longshoremen in hopes of ending the 9 month deadlock…)

現在に至るまでの人気曲であるにもかかわらず、シングル発売当初は振るわなかった(当地デトロイト以外では)。ところが思いがけずB面のバラード曲 Beth の人気が高まったのでA/Bを差し替えて再発し、米7位を記録。

冒頭のニュースを読み上げているのはジーンシモンズ。続いてラジオは Rock and Roll All Nite を拾う。

I-95は東海岸の高速道路であり、デトロイトを通ってはいない(I-94とI-96はある)。この地理的矛盾を是正すべく、作者の一人にもクレジットされているプロデューサーのボブエズリンがリミックスに当たって処理を施した(マジメか？)。
因に筆者はI-95の支線を時速75マイルで走って county legislator ならぬ county sheriff に切符を切られ、罰金百数十ドル払った… トホホ。
