I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

この歌を書いたのは土曜日、昨日録音してミネアポリス市に降りかかった国家テロへの応答として皆さんに届けるべく本日発表しました。アレックスプレッティとレネーグッドを追悼し、ミネアポリスの人達、罪なき移民の隣人達に捧げます。

本作は二人の市民の死に着想を得たもの。
詞中の phones は抗議活動として当局者を携帯電話で撮影していた事を示しており、whistles は摘発の動向を近隣住民や周囲に知らせるべく3Dプリンターで大量に作られた笛。
ice は ICE = United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement 合衆国移民関税執行局 を仄めかすもの。

炎上する街が火と氷(ICE)と戦った
fight fire = 火と戦う → 消火する (firefighter = 消防士)
ただ2026年のデモでミネアポリスに火は上がっていない。作者は2020年のジョージフロイドの死への抗議の際の放火事件の印象を流用、或は(意図的に?)混同しているのだろう。
まあ火は抗議者達が付けたんだけど…

ICEはDHSの下部組織。
念の為に言っておくと、トランプは王でなく現職大統領であり、ICE捜査官も国境警備隊も彼の私兵ではない。

表題は自身の1994年のヒット作 Streets of Philadelphia に準えたものだろう。
それにしても本作は民主党支持TDSミュージシャンの面目躍如といったところか… 🙄

カッコいい演説だったのにその偽善を先住民に指摘されてしまう…
