本作は、85年公開の映画 The Falcon and the Snowman (邦題:コードネームはファルコン)のサントラ。

原作は79年刊行の、二人のアメリカ人青年が国家機密をソ連に売り渡した実際の事件を描いた同名の小説。

その一人 Christopher Boyce は、事件について、また仮釈放された2002年から07年までの生活を綴った本を出している。

「こんなのアメリカじゃない」
これは正義感使命感が主人公(= Boyce)に吐かせた言葉なのだろう。彼の思う正しいアメリカですらもただの幻想かも知れないが。

今のご時勢、きっとあの人を揶揄するのに使われてるだろうと思ったら案の定…
